Dads Gone Nuts — Tale of Two Very Similar Shows
A man tries to extricate himself from a life of instability after the death of his wife. Along the way he must patch things up with his offspring, who has good reason to find the father annoying.
Maybe that reminds you of the Apple TV+ series “Shrinking,” starring Jason Segel, with supporting roles played by Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams. The trio portrays shrinks in the office workplace comedy, which debuted in January. Or maybe you thought I was describing “Unstable” on Netflix, which stars Rob Lowe as an eccentric biological research whiz and his real-life son John Owen Lowe — a series that’s also largely set in an office environment and launched in late March. Even the names of the shows seem to mirror each other.
